Cooking: Prepare Louisiana Purchase Jambalaya with 1 pound of meat or seafood cut into bite-size pieces. We recommend smoked sausage, chicken, shrimp, and turkey. 1. In a medium saucepan, brown meat as desired. Once meat has been browned, add 2 tablespoons of butter and Louisiana Purchase Jambalaya mix. 2. Add 2-2/3 cups of water and bring to a boil for approximately 2 minutes. 3. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 18 minutes or until rice is cooked. 4. Remove from heat, give a good stir, serve and enjoy! Note: Cooking times may vary. Serving Suggestion: For a heartier jambalaya, substitute chicken, beef, or vegetable broth instead of water. If you prefer a stew-like consistency, brown meat, then add 1 can of stewed okra in tomato sauce. Continue cooking jambalaya as instructed. We recommend all meat products be fully cooked during step 1 of the cooking process.
