Microwave: for 1 serving, use 3/4 cup water, 3 tbsp grits, a dash of salt (optional). 1. for 1 serving, combine water, grits and salt in 2 cup microwaveable bowl; stir. 2. microwave at high 3 to 4 minutes or until thickened when stirred. Stove top: for 1 serving, use 1 cup water, 3 tbsp grits, a dash of salt (optional). For 4 servings, use 3 cups water, 3/4 cup grits, 1/4 tsp salt (optional). For 6 servings, use 4 cups water, 1 cup grits, 1/2 tsp salt (optional). 1. slowly stir grits and salt into briskly boiling water. 2. reduce heat to medium-low; cover. Cook 5 to 7 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Tip: for thicker grits decrease water; for thinner grits, increase water.
